Surgical Services

When your pet needs surgery, you want work with the best in the business

The Kings Road team handle routine surgeries like spays, neuters, mass removals, and dental care. We also do more complex procedures such as orthopaedic and advanced soft tissue surgeries.

Desexing or neutering your pet is a surgical procedure that is typically performed when a pet is between four and six months (but can occur at any age beyond that). In male pets it is commonly referred to as “castration”, and in female pets as “spaying”. This is the most frequent surgery performed by our vets, and generally, your pet is home by the evening of surgery.

There are many benefits such as unwanted litters, decreasing aggression, and prevention of cancer and prostate disease in males.

Orthopaedic surgery is usually required due to an injury or a degenerative condition. We can assist with diagnoses and repairs to your dog’s bones and joints such as hip and elbow dysplasia, fractures, amputations, joint fusions, dislocations and ligament repairs such as TTA (Tibial Tuberosity Advancement).

Our skilled veterinarians can perform the vast majority of soft tissue procedures such as desexing, mass and lump removals, caesareans, biopsies, wound repairs, and removal of foreign bodies.

If you find a lump or bump on your pet please make an appointment to visit one of our veterinarians to discuss any surgery your pet may require.

Animals can be affected by a variety of eye issues and diseases. We provide a comprehensive eye exam, discuss your options and support you in deciding on the best treatment for your animal.

Many eye conditions can be treated however, some conditions may require surgery by one of our expert veterinarians.

Pets are vulnerable to gum disease and problems with their teeth. Alarmingly, 80% of dogs and 70% of cats suffer from some form of dental disease by the age of three.

We recommend regular dental checkups and cleans to prevent discomfort, extractions, or worse still, heart, liver and kidney problems.

We offer an extensive range of dental treatments from the elective to the unavoidable.

We can assist with emergency treatment for critical illness or injury, from car accidents to heart conditions, poisoning and a range of injuries.

We’re open 6 days a week, plus our after-hours service provides 24/7 assistance in emergencies to our current patients. If you require emergency treatment for your pet after-hours please call 0455 420 807.
